Why use a bait boat?

Bait boats are becoming more and more popular with today's carp anglers, so why should you use a bait boat rather than casting?... here's a few advantages.

Accuracy
Being able to place your bait under a far margin canopy or on a small silt patch found with an echo sounder at 200 metres is obviously going to give you an advantage over the angler who casts his rig, this is where bait boats really come into their own when accuracy counts.

Bait application
For years anglers were limited to catapults, throwing sticks and spods, and there were a lot of wrapped knuckles and aching shoulders for old skool carpers! Some of the bigger bait boats now hold 4kg+ of bait so a large amount of bait can be deployed in one trip, quietly and accurately with the rig placed smack bang amongst it.

Tangle free presentation
When using long or supple hooklink materials there is a likelyhood of tangling on the cast, presentation with a bait boat can eliminate the tangles.

Floater fishing a distance
Presenting floating baits at range via a bait boat has revolutionised surface fishing on some waters, if allowed make sure you give it a try you'll be suprised at the results.

Topography mapping
Spent weeks on end mapping out the depths of your lake with a marker float?... many of todays bait boats have echo sounder and GPS facilities, you will get an idea of exactly what is below the surface in less than half the time.
